PLAY is the most important and powerful tool we use to teach in the classroom. Yukon's redesigned curriculum emphasizes play in all aspects of learning from kindergarten up to Gr. 12. Through play, children learn the meaning of their world. There are four categories of play we use in the classroom: - Functional Play - Constructive Play - Games with rules - Dramatic Play |
Resources
For the redesigned curriculum, BC (we follow the BC curriculum) has produced some amazing play resources that the Kindergarten teachers in the Yukon follow. This curriculum is all based around play and has a family component. To learn more about them and explore how play is used in our classrooms, please have a look at the links below.

Explore Outdoors
Playing outdoors is very good for a Childs' development. We are very fortunate here in the Yukon that we have vast beautiful wilderness for children and their families to explore. Our summers maybe short but we fill them with fun adventures! Let's get outside and play!
